I love March Madness. To me March Madness means spring, fun, and great college basketball. Over the years I have twice won office pools with my brackets. Back in the days of the O’Bannon brothers at UCLA my winning bracket brought me enough dough to put new tires on my car! Some special highlights of this years brackets for me include my Longhorns making it to the dance by the skin of their teeth, my SMU Mustangs making it which I am actually super stoked about, and most important my dear husband’s Wisconsin Badgers being a #1 seed for the first time ever! Go Badgers! I love March Madness!
This year I am experimenting by adding a little wine fun to my bracketology. I thought it would be a fun twist to do a varietal bracket. We will start with just a random list of white and red grapes from all over the world; as the tournament continues and teams/grapes get eliminated I will have more space to provide some information on various grape varietals. However, as you can see there is an important down-side to my idea; the brackets are too hard to read on this blog because I don’t have enough space to make them big enough. So if you will bear with me through the first round, once we get to 32 teams/grapes I think both brackets will be much easier to read. In the mean time here is my varietal bracket with the grapes listed in order below, please click on the image to enlarge and read all the varietals:

Hopefully this will be fun and possibly even educational! Thank you for humoring me while I try something new.
My Song Selection: The song I have chosen to pair with this article and each of my March Madness/Wine Madness articles as we work our way down to a winning grape is the only possible song choice for the greatness that is March Madness, Basketball by Curtis Blow!
Good luck on your brackets!

A combination of my favorite ‘Reds’. Rockin Red, Red Wine and Wisconsin Badger Red!
Absolutely love the concept! Great idea. Mike and I both live for March Madness too. And for the first time in a long time my beloved Razorbacks are dancing again! Congrats to the Badgers in being a #1.
Thank you Lori. I thought it would be fun, guess we will see where it goes. Good luck to your Razorbacks! Let the dance begin!
OMG! Go Longhorns/Orvieto! LOL. Hook ’em Horns! I hope my team wins. 🙂
I hope so too! Hook Em!
This is a great and fun idea, Michelle! 🙂 Looking forward to seeing who’s going to move on to the next brackets – needless to say, I am rooting for an Italian variety… 😉
Of course you are! Thank you Stefano. It should be fun!
