I have not forgotten you and I am so thankful you have not forgotten me. The WSET Level 3 exam is Monday. Each week as the test draws near my level of study has increased. This week has been a full-court press. The new book is so dense there is nothing in it that I do not need to memorize. The material is thorough and I can say pass or fail that my wine knowledge has risen considerably. In my pursuit to provide you honest, thorough, and fun information I am thankful for the challenge to grow in my global wine knowledge. This exam is not for the faint of heart but by Monday I will have prepared to the best of my ability.
In order to dedicate the time necessary to pass I’ve been on a writing hiatus since last week. I will begin publishing new content March 5. March will be a fun month on Rockin Red Blog; including coverage of wine regions in Germany, Portugal, France, Italy, as well as wine regions and winery focuses throughout the US. Additionally, I will be hitting the wine trail to visit Chile, Bordeaux, Franciacorta, Sonoma, and Napa. Stay tuned. Spring is going to be full of wine.

Good luck, Michelle! Having just been through the process, I’m confident you’ll do well. I love the info density of the WSET materials, although my daughter commented: “Dad, if you highlight everything, that’s not highlighting”!
Thanks Jeff. Knowing you highlighted everything makes me feel better. You can see from just one page in my book that basically the entire book is underlined. Word to all who want to take Level 3, keep it simply… just memorize the entire book! Thanks for your help and encouragement. I am so mentally exhausted that I am ready for it to be over yet, still afraid I have missed something.
I’m sure you will do well on the test. The multiple choice section is difficult, but all your studying will see you through. The essays are more about taking facts and linking them together – the whys and hows of winemaking – and you will score points for each correct thing you mention. All the articles and posts you’ve written, in which you’ve done exactly that, will serve you well on this section. Get some sleep the night before, and eat something before the test. Best of luck!
Thank you Lauren. You are the 1st person to say the multiple choice is difficult. I am so happy to know that. I am hoping in my memorization of the entire book to tackle the short answer questions I am hoping I am prepared for whatever comes up in multiple choice. I did not find the multiple choice too hard in Level 2. In fact, comparatively, level 2 is a cake walk! I appreciate your insight and sound advice. Good luck as you move into Diploma! You rock!
I felt just as you did going into the exam. After it was over I had no idea whether I had passed or not. Turns out I passed theory with distinction and tasting with merit. You will do fine!

Good luck! I took the CSW test two years ago, so I know how gargantuan the volume of information is.I made dozens of crazy mnemonic devices, had giant sticky-paper posters up on wall, outlining everything. I wrote notes, I highlighted, I wrote more notes, I read things out loud to myself, I woke up in the middle of the night to look up things. The night before, take a break – watch a movie or a TV show – clear your mind. Also: do not take tooooo many deep breaths before the test or you will almost black out. Trust me on that one. 🙂
