“A high quality Chardonnay you can count on year after year.”
2014 Grgich Hills Estate Chardonnay Napa Valley USA
It pours a clear medium gold into the glass. Pronounced developing aromas spring from the glass; such as apples, pears, tropical fruits such as mango and pineapple, ripe peaches, baking spice notes such as nutmeg, crème brulee, toast, and hazelnut. On the palate this wine offers crisp, racy acidity, it has a zesty mouth-feel, medium weight, yet dances across the palate with loads of tart fruit and balanced spice; elegant with great structure and a finish that goes on for days. Mike Grghich isn’t called “The King of Chardonnay” for nothing. This wine is a solid expression of Chardonnay year after year.
Grapes were organically cultivated in Grgich Hills American Canyon and Carneros vineyards, in the southern area of Napa Valley. This wine did not go through Malolactic Fermentation. It was aged in French oak, 60% neutral and 40% new barrels. Indigenous yeast was used for fermentation.
