Snowbirds Grüner Veltliner

2016 Snowbirds Grüner Veltliner Lake Chelan AVA Washington

This wine poured a medium lemon in the glass. Medium inviting aromas of under-ripe peaches, lemon zest and juice, acacia, pineapple, and fresh herbs. It was lively on the palate, crisp and refreshing. Light in body, medium acidity, medium flavor intensity on the palate. This is a zesty wine perfect to perk up a cold winter’s day. Medium finish.

Snowbird wines are handcrafted in small batches. They are made using vegan and gluten-free practices from grapes grown and harvested using sustainable, earth-first practices.

Chef McFadden recommends pairing this wine with Maryland style crab cakes, creamy polenta with pears and gorgonzola, or with sweet potato and gruyere cakes for vegetarian dish.

Snowbirds Vinterns is the idea of Chef Jamie McFadden in partnership with winemaker Norm Saley and Quantum Leap Winery.

“Snowbirds Vintners is serious wine in a not-so-serious bottle!  Inspired by his love for food and wine, and annual family adventures from the cold and snow, to the warm, sunny beaches of Florida, Snowbirds is all about fun, food, family, and friends. As Jamie says, it’s ‘vacation inspired, no beach required!’”

Giving back ~

A portion of proceeds from each bottle goes to charitable and non-profit organizations each quarter, including The P.E.A.S. Foundation, a non-profit created to provide fresh produce and foods for shelters and other charitable organizations.

  1. You are going to laugh: David said to me “For someone who calls herself RockinRedBlog Michelle sure does drink a lot of wine!” I replied to him… “She has red hair.” He looked ashamed…lol. Great article. I love wine producers who give back. This sounds like a good summer sipper!
